LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives were investigating Sunday the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 30-year-old man found in Lancaster.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent around 10:34 p.m. Saturday to the 45400 block of Corkwood Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim.
Once on scene, deputies located a black adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
According to witnesses, the suspects, also described as adult black men, were involved in a verbal arguement with the victim.
During the argument, one of the suspects allegedly shot the victim with a handgun. Both men then fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
The murder weapon has not been recovered, deputies said.
